Good Game ... !

Sorry ... I didn't update my blog for so long ... Please bear with me. My Work schedule is extreme tight. In addition, I 've to prepare the questions for BQ 2005. I really have to do a better job in managing my time.

Talking about today's game:

We play very good defensively. We stick to the game plan and didn't let them pass the ball into play. I'm very glad with the team's overall performance. One thing, I would like you guys to work on is your mental toughness. "Focus" ... No matter how hard or difficult it is, just focus on your assignments and don't let anything(Ref, your opponent, your teammate or even your coach) disturb you. "Fire" is essential too. I see lots of "Fire" in you today and I would like to see that more often. To stay competitive, and fire up. I also notice our physical condition had been improved. Very good! Well done guys. I'm really glad that we did introduce Samson as our conditioning coach. Thanks!

Don't get too excited about today's game. There're more tough games coming up. Our next game will be on Oct 22, 2005 4:20pm VS CCCC.
Keep up your hard work guys. See you guys all Monday.

So Close ...

Sorry guys ... I really have to admit that I've made a crucial mistake during the game. Substitution is an issue here. Several bad calls lead us to a deep hole and it hinders our chance in fighting back. Sorry guys! Please remind me next time, if I overlook the sub. To be honest, we've played a very good defensive game in the second half. I'm impressed.

P.S. We are happy to announce that Samson will be our new conditioning coach for the rest of the season. He is a profession trainer graduated from SFU. Welcome aboard!
P.S.2 Next practice will again be hosted by Assistant Coach Jason Chan. Please show up for practice.

Hear O Lord ...

Recently, I have a very bad experience in dealing with a person. I don’t want to dig deep into details. In my heart, I’m very disappointed. On one hand he tells me it’s just a joke. But on the other hand, he condemns me – “I was wrong!?”. Well … I’ve no problem and more than willing to admit my mistake. But I’m just wondering, why he tells me in the first place that it is just a joke? I really have trouble learning the fact that what he is telling me is not actually a joke. Maybe … it’s just because I’m very annoyed that moment and that’s why he told me it is just a joke. And maybe … because I expressed to him that I’m very uncomfortable with his “joke”, and that’s why he offers me his “true” feelings. To be honest, if I follow my “self”, I can in many ways keep on arguing with him. But God won’t let me do it. God wants me to love him ... When I pray, I remember our bible study last Saturday:

9Love must be sincere … 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love … 14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse … 16Live in harmony with one another. … Do not be conceited. (Rom 12:9-16)

I prayed that Lord will continue to teach me and guide me through. Be humble before him, bless and do not curse those who are against me. We’re all sinners. I’m just as bad. Hear O Lord, continue to teach me. Amen.

Team RCAC 2005

Please bear one thing in mind that I'm not cutting you out from the team. You're still part of our team, but you will not be placed in our IBL roster. Therefore you can't play competitive IBL games for us. However, base on my past experience, some people tends not to show up in the middle of the season due to whatever reasons. And throughout the whole season, we can make 3 roster change before playoff. Therefore, I don't see why people in the injury reserve can't flight back into the roster. It's hard for me to evaluate you as a basketball player base on just one 2.5 hour practice. But because of the IBL application deadline, I've no choice but to make some tough calls. If you have any question, please feel free to email me any time.

RCAC Team 2nd Practice ...

Simon Fan:
This is my first time I saw him play … An excellent defender and rebounder … very solid physical present … need to improve his offensive tools … I think he can contribute to the team …

Johnny Tang:
We all know he is a scorer, who can step in and make the shot or take the ball to the basket and draw fouls … he has a very quick first step and uses the dribble well to create separation from his defender … but he needs to improve his defensive positioning as well as his mental toughness during game … assistant captain …

Timmy Cheng:
Has the ability to play both guard spots … Shows good range on his shot to go with a quick first step and good passing skills … Still learning the point guard position … needs to improve his court vision as I mentioned earlier …

David Chan:
First timer … Shows good range and a quick first step … Solid ball-handling and passing skills … he seems to me that he is an unselfish player … show signs of quick feet … need to adapt team play …

Wilson Lam:
There’s no doubt in my mind that he is one of the top athletes in the league last season … Complete guard who can score, handle and pass … has excellent athletic ability and body control … show good range and is an excellent finisher on the fast break as well ... still needs to improve his physically strength and mental toughness …

Jonathan Tang:
First timer … He is an athletic forward with a well-built body, solid fundamentals and a good work ethic … needs to improve his communication on and off the court …

Winky Ng:
A physical player who can score both inside and mid-range … Has a deceptive first step and very quick release on his jump-shot … still need to improve his shot and fitness …

Damen Man:
Shows very good range on his jump-shot to go with a quick first step… Solid ball-handling and passing skills … good defender and extremely hard-working … I don’t see why he can’t be one of our important player this season … maybe only his fitness level can harm him …

Nelson Lam:
An imposing defensive presence … with improving offensive skills … has leadership quality on and off the court … still need to improve his physically strength and his ability to defend bigger opponent … our new assistant captain …

Jason Qi:
First timer … Decent passing skills … can take the ball to the basket … need to improve his court vision and adapt to team play …

Denis Ng:
Has the ability to take his man off the dribble and is adept at drawing fouls and getting to the line … Can change gears quickly and likes to stop for a jump-shot … must improve his fitness level … shot must be improve as well …

Lawrence Yiu:
First timer … I believe he is an unselfish player with solid all-around skills … A hard-working player who accepts coaching and wants to improve … must improve in adapting to team play …

Eric Tam:
For a big man like Eric, he is able to use his quickness to find space to get off his shots … can score on the low block and has an excellence mid-range game ... Uses long frame to shut down opposing players … but lack a bit physically present … needs to improve his overall basketball sense … one of the key person in the team … our new captain …

Jason Chan:
Player/Coach … he is an extremely versatile player who has drawn comparisons to Scottie Pippen … An explosive athlete who is a tremendous passer and has improved his perimeter shooting … an excellent defender … very intelligent and hard working …

Kent Yeung:

Wide-bodied post player with great strength … decent mid-range game … an unselfish player … like I said before, if he can improve his offensive tools … he will be excelled in his position …

Learn to Accept ...

Labour day ... everything went well ... 3 minutes wait crossing the boarder ... WOW ... however, somewhere along the way ... I think it's around exit 224 ... I've got a speeding ticket ... :( 65 in 60 zone ... it keeps bothering me ... then I remember the sermon from Dr Leung ... Learn to accept the situation "AS IS" ... and let it be my starting point ... I keep praying while shopping around ... for sure I drive cautiously on my way back ... I realize ... so many police around ... I'm almost certain that I would get a speeding ticket if I don't get a ticket before [maybe 80 in a 60 zone ... ] ... Continue to teach me Lord ... I prayed.

The Fear of God ...

Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning." (Exodus: 20:20)

When God empowering present ... we fear ... maybe because of our incapacity in facing our dear God ... God speaks not to destroy but to save us ... He is with you to keep you from sinning. Remember.

Courage & Faith ...

Making a decision is easy, but actually walking it out is another question! It requires courage (which I don’t really have that much at the moment). I’m afraid of a change. I’m very comfortable with almost everything in my life. I don’t want the feeling of uncertainty keep bothering me. I know it well in my heart that pursuing the will of God is the best for us. What if … what if? Baby? Manager? MDiv? Sorry for my unbelief, Lord. Please help me, Lord, my faith is not enough.

Yesterday once more ...

6 people show up for the first practice of the season. I'm very impressed with some of their performances! Not bad for a start. Well ... More people must show up. In order for you to get a feel ... here is the summary :

Jason: The brain is still there but might need to work on his fitness in general (I expect a lot from him, it's not fair to say that his fitness level is off). More work is needed in order to see our "Old" Jason back!

Winky: Very good feel on and off the ball. His shot still have to improve. Keep it up Winky. Definitely push for the first team.

Eric: Basketball sense is not something that we could learn in a short period of time. Eric has the potential to be one of the brightest star in the league. He is getting there and so does his basketball sense. Keep it up, Eric.

Damon: I'm not sure if he did fully utilize his potential yet. His shoot had been improved. But well ... Fitness level is the key element for him right now.

Timmy: Court vision ... you know what I meant Timmy. Everything is good for him. Just remember basketball is a team game, make sure you make others better!

Kent: Strong and determine. Very well done. Work on your offensive tools and you could excel in your position.

A Brand New Day ...

I don't have a reason ...
I don't have any expectations ...
But
I surely hope that you will enjoy my journey ...
